Training: Social LCA, LCC, Waste modelling and PROSUITE

Sustainability has become a new key word over the last years. A good and successful performance of a company is not only about economic growth anymore. Today, there is an increasing awareness of ethical correctness, social well-being and environmental protection along entire life cycles of products and services. While ecological Footprint and Life Cycle Assessment approaches are already well studied, there is still a need for further research regarding social impacts and costing along life cycles as well as the combination of the three main pillars of sustainability in a single method. Also the idea of a circular economy, i.e. introducing waste back into the production cycle by re- or up-cycling approaches, gains more and more importance.

Content:

Therefore, this training is focused on:

  • Theory and application of Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA)
  • Theory and application of Life Cycle Costing (LCC)
  • Waste modelling
  • PROSUITE methodology

To model product systems, waste flows and calculate results the LCA software openLCA will be used.

The preliminary agenda is provided here.

Outcome:

Aim is to teach participants the theoretical background of Social LCA and LCC and how these approaches can be connected with Environmental LCA and waste modelling. Theory will be illustrated by practical examples and a case study combining the individual approaches into a sustainability assessment.
