Practical Aspects of Social Life Cycle Assessment

International Workshop on May 25, 2012

In cooperation with the Federal University of Technology of Paraná and the Öko-Institut e.V. we organized an international workshop about Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) in Berlin.

Purpose was to demonstrate the application of S-LCA and related tools and to collaborate with interested scientists, economists, and consultants, on how social impacts caused by product life cycles can be managed based on the approach proposed by the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative.

During the workshop the UNEP/SETAC S-LCA method was introduced. International S-LCA experts presented case studies and methodological aspects, with a focus on practical application. Further, S-LCA was compared with other tools that are used and proposed for addressing the social dimension of sustainability. A panel discussion with recognized experts closed the day.

We want to thank all speakers and participants for their interest!
